Water Borders – “Harbored Mantras” – [Triangle Records]
humana 8/10/2012 12-inch, A Library
Need a dose of weirdness? Look no further than this album. This San Francisco duo create a very down-tempo vibe/drone out of which extremely bizarre vocalizations drift. You get a prize if you can decipher the meaning behind the lyrics. A1 is rather bell-like; percussion gives a subtle pulse to the murkiness. Female-sounding vox on A3. These mantras “It won’t be all right” on B4) are guaranteed to plummet you into the depths of sobriety.
