Underground River – “Live at KFJC” – [Nudie Records]

Isotope   4/15/2025   12-inch, A Library

Underground River’s album Live at KFJC was indeed recorded live in KFJC’s Pit (an open area in the station’s library often used for live broadcasts) on May 26, 2023. The artist, also known as Hunter Davidsohn, is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and recording engineer based in New York state. The sound has an intimate feel, as though the artist came over to your house and said, “hey I’ve written some new songs, can I try them out on you?” Now, he’s sitting in your living room playing his guitar and singing just for you. The album has such a quiet, sweet, resonant feel to it that it showcases both the artist—and KFJC’s Pit—in their best light. These acoustic folk songs may sound a bit like a throwback to a more folk psychedelic era, but I think their sound is timeless, and well worth a listen.
