Album Review
Hermanos Gutierrez – “Sonido Cosmico” – [Easy Eye Sound]
Isotope 8/20/2024 A Library, CD

The brothers Gutierrez were not kidding when they named their album “cosmic sound.” The sounds from this instrumental album are cosmic, transcendent, groovy, sometimes meditative, always brilliant. This is gorgeous work, melodic, inventive, and talkative in an instrumental way. Don’t approach this album with too many preconceived notions—the brothers have talked about how they are influenced by film soundtrack music, and these tracks will evoke certain kinds of movies, but I think that’s the wrong way to listen to this work. Try to put images out of your mind as you listen and take in the music on its own terms. You’ll fly away with it, and you’ll love it.
