beastofbourbon   10/16/2023   12-inch, A Library

The Forgotten is a Campbell/San Jose based band formed in 1997 with vocalist Gordy Carbone and bassist Ken Helwig of Slip. Veni Vidi Vici is their debut release (2023 is the 25th anniversary). Recorded in Campbell, Ca and produced by Lars Frederiksen (Rancid). The music is mid tempo Street Punk/American Oi! with anthemic chants and fist raising choruses. The lyrics rant about the police, fascists, scene politics, sexual liberation, and drug addiction. The Forgotten were at the forefront of this style taking over the US punk scene along with Swingin’ Utters, Rancid, and Lower Class Brats that were influenced by earlier UK bands The Clash, Sham 69, GBH, The Business, and Cock Sparrer. Cover art is by renowned Bay Area tattoo artist Robert Klem who also did the artwork for Sleep’s “Holy Mountain”.
