Staubitz and Waterhouse – “Out and About” – [Gertrude Tapes]
humana 8/8/2023 12-inch, A Library
This found sound/industrial duo make the most of their environs in Pawtucket, Rhode Isalnd and Hudson Valley, New York as they take us through a day (filled with markets, schools, hot stamper factories?, and a favorite nighttime haunt) on Side A. Side B is a travel record of Hudson Valley interspersed with birdsong and a bit harsher industrial noise (they are performing live at Tubby’s on B3). The record sleeve itself makes for an interesting read–sort of a local daily newspaper of their lives (just as the sounds on the album are).
