Bad Drumlin Grass – “Live At Timber Cove” – [Milvia Son Records]
mickeyslim 8/6/2013 12-inch, A Library
Bad Drumlin Grass, flagship group of Milvia Son Records, from a live performance at the Timber Cove, under the legendary sculpture by Benny Bufano, “The Expanding Universe.” The first track is their musical interpretation of the sculpture, an 80-foot tall missile-shaped cement monument decorated with images of happy aliens (check it out on the cover)
The first track is very spacey and lonely, actually feels like an expanding world. It floats softly with a dark wind coming off the ocean, there’s definitely some ocean themes.
Second track is a barely fluctuating drone with guitar noodlings and pickings that aren’t always pretty. Seeing this outside live would be fucking epic… when’s the next show?
