X Ray Pop – “Dream Machine, The” – [Dark Entries]
Thurston Hunger 8/15/2012 12-inch, A Library
Damn, if only France had first put a man (or better
yet a woman) on the moon. The rockets would have
looked like this music sounds, and one of these
tracks would have surely been the world anthem.
Irresistible synth pop from the mid 80’s by the
duo of Zouka Dzaza and Doc Pilot. I’m not sure
what exactly they’re singing, but I think it’s
about how you are so very attractive. Drum machines
dance like trained poodles, but there’s enough
art rock moves here to push a brainiac out onto
the dance floor. Some early 7″ as well as demos
(which are well-recorded) but I think every track
is new to KFJC. Got to turn this in quickly,
otherwise I’m going to want to keep this under
my pillow, it is after all a Dream Machine. A very
colorful release, super lush-o-matic! Josh from
Dark Entries really has got the time capsules
popping. Salud!
