Jerman, Jeph – “Arrastre” – [Self -released]

cinder   4/13/2012   12-inch, A Library

“Arrastre is the Spanish word for drag, and also the name of a 19th century mining apparatus, wherein large boulders were drug around an ore-filled pit by means of a large spindle and arm, driven by pack animals.” This is a collection of recordings Jeph made from an idea based on Tibetan Singing Bowls. He apparently was doing the dishes one night, the thought popped into his head, and he recorded his bowls, pans, pots and the like. These resonating tones are compiled on three different releases, in three different formats (CD and cassette). Gorgeous, drones of meditation. Pure white skies.
