Bischoff, John – “Audio Combine” – [New World Records]

cinder   3/15/2012   A Library, CD

John is an “early pioneer of live computer music” having spent over 40 years playing around with sounds. He describes his music with such terms as high definition noise components, tonal edges, and non-linear motion. That being said, this is very sparse, electronic test-pattern sounding sounds. At time, very alien like, definitely a hint of empty outer space. Analog oscillator circuitry, amplified brass rods, small toys, synthetic bells. Minimal brain noise. Bischoff is currently an Associate Professor of Music at Mills College.
