Slaves, The – “Grey Angel” – [Paradigms Recordings]

Thurston Hunger   1/4/2012   A Library, CD

You’ve been in a terrible car accident. At first all you can see is
the slowdrip IV, and you concentrate on that till the point where you feel every chemical release push into your bloodstream. Your nurse used to be in Slowdive, your doctor is a ghost, he plays a portable iron lung synthesizer of sorts, while the nurse sings your medical chart. The Log Lady *may* be in the bed next to you (especially during track 3).?? Consciousness comes and goes, dream and life spin around on the top??and bottom of this CD, which somehow during the accident was lodged?? between your 6th and 7th vertebrae. Portland Oregon two piece lost their timepiece on this gorgeous meditative slowcore, and then they lost their band. Thus this release is post-humous, but fortunately you are not. The gauze wrap of the sound here just managed to hold your fractured psyche together and kept your blood from turning into a mist of strung-out notes.
