Shoot The Pier – “Surf Dance” – [Self Produce]
Cousin Mary 12/12/2011 A Library, CD
Bill and Ellie Sims are a father and daughter from Florida who surf and also write and perform surf music. The liner notes use a term “surf trance” and that’s a good start in describing this unique surf sound. Kind of moody at times, gorgeous tones with fine melodies. Often wistful, possibly because it incorporates the feelings of a young girl.
A bit of spoken vocals on 2,8,11. More spoken vocals on the delightful track 4 where you hear one side of an early morning phone conversation between teenage girls planning to go surfing.
I love this release! Also see Phil Dirt’s review on http://www.reverbcentral.com/.
