Squim – “Zephyrus” – [Olde English Spelling Bee]
cinder 12/2/2011 12-inch, A Library
One man project, Chris Phillips, from Portland. Two ideas, each split into multiple personalities. Nightingale Floor, the first side, starts with a subtle ear pierce, and evolves into lush and spooky soundscapes. Each track is unique to itself, yet they flow together. I wish it was one long continuous piece. Sound collages of electronics and found sound. Beautiful drones. The second side, Trial By Cobra, brings a more bubbling tone to it, part 2 especially. Some guitars and effected keys perhaps. Longer tracks, less drone but still experimental.
