Sujo / Korperschwache [coll] – [Inam]
Thurston Hunger 10/5/2011 A Library, CD
On Sujo’s own label, I feel this owes more to Glenn Branca than the flood of doom sayers and players these days. That’s meant as a compliment. Sujo really summons the wall of sound, with a sort of
dirty psych guitar flavor, drums are eventually subsumed on the third cut (all 3 track) where thick waves of sound swell from amplified black skies. A nice stark ending to that. Korperschwache starts
with a more post-apocalyptic synth crawl while a distant door slams, moves to more typical guitar, a lighter set of chords and a sustain noodle on top. The second track adds vocals, a tale of evil dentistry? Stop and start guitars. The most foul though may be the drum machine on this split’s closer, which is mere plodder fodder. Everything else was enjoyable though, dig in, stack up, fall under.????????????????????????????????????????
