Broening, Benjamin W/ Duo Runedako – “Recombinant Nocturnes” – [Innova/American Composers]
Cousin Mary 9/6/2011 A Library, CD
13 pieces composed by Benjamin Broening are all night music – “nocturne” is a composition suggesting the night, “nachtlied” is German for night song. Very watery and dreamy pieces – reminds me of Impressionistic composers such as Debussey and Ravel but unusual chord harmonics bring also Erik Satie to mind. Piano and piano duets with a small smattering of electronics.
Lovely, delicate, calming.
