Shapes, The – “Songs For Sensible People” – [Overground Records]

humana   8/12/2011   A Library, CD

Plenty of punk rock bands dedicated themselves to politics–The Shapes contented themselves with humor and the lighter side of life. Formed by two chaps in the UK who were expelled from the same school, this band enjoyed some exposure from John Peel and plenty of others before splitting up in the early 1980s, but mainly they just enjoyed…Listen to the funny lyrics (especially on some of the outros, like “Wot’s for Lunch Mum?”), rock out to the fast pace and upbeat mood, and read the liner notes (at least check out the pictures).
