Graves and Orchestra Pits – “Graves and Orchestra Pits” – [Utech Records]

humana   4/3/2011   A Library, CD

From the moment this CD begins with its intro track that sounds like an orchestra tuning up, you know you???re in for a creative treat. Hailing from Germany and Japan, this band brings you a mind-expanding array of electroacoustical and metal sounds that are at times like a metal din of clanking and synth swirls, tempered by glockenspiel moments…Sometimes it???s industrial sounding with rhythmic percussive chaos, albeit with a method to the madness. 2 offers a nice range of sound; 3 is almost tame; 4 has some creepy found sounds; 5 has a metallic heavy-handedness; 6 has a very quiet first 16 seconds followed by experimental sounds; 7 has a flute and sax within the metal mix; and 8 is an electronic festival of blips and bleeps.
