Matmos – “Supreme Balloon” – [Matador]

cinder   3/10/2011   A Library, CD

Probably the most bubbly and fun release from ex-San Francisco natives, Matmos. (Now in Baltimore). The adorable couple of MC Schmidt and Drew Daniel used only computers and synthesizers to create this album. No recordings of squishy flesh or prickly plants, unfortunately, but what comes forth is a super happy and toe tapping electronic dance record. Also involved in one way or another is Jay Lesser, and Thomas DiMuzio. The cover says it all – rainbows, balloons and floaty shapes. Always creating something visually interesting live, this duo has never disappointed. Turn up the bass and don your sequins, it’s sequencer dancing time! (Track 5 for you classical loving nerds, hehe)
