Me Me The Moth – “Weirding Valley, The” – [Self -released]
Max Level 3/10/2009 A Library, CD
An odd long-distance internet file-exchange project between poets / vocalists / multi-instrumentalists Marcelo Radulovich and Neil Carlill. The duo plays and sings everything here, assembling guitars, drums, keyboards, harmonica, stuttering cut-up sounds, talk-singing, and other noises into a sort of alien down-home sound, like if Califone and Secret Mommy made a record together. Everything (lyrics and titles and the band’s name for that matter) is all over the place, just one weird image after another: raw vegetable milk… a black chapel with green pigs… tooth tar… sponge delay… ants from your skull… you just kind of have to go along for the ride and hope you get back from the Weirding Valley in one piece. I like this CD but I have no idea what it’s all about. Go ahead, bend your mind around it. Tracks are mostly in the 2-3 minute range.
