Album Review
Red Masque, The – “Fossileyes ” – [Ad Hoc]
humana 9/26/2008 A Library, CD
Avant Rock/Psychedelic: This is plain weird and therefore great. Hailing from Philadelphia and featuring boss bass and electric guitar by Vonorn and rich vocals from Lynnette Shelley, Red Masque offers a unique array of tracks with ultra-cool and creepy lyrics touching on themes such as Polyphemus, moths, spiders, snails, and carbon???s role in dating fossils. The music here is intense, varied, and ranging from folk to Old World accordion to horror soundscapes to all-out brilliant rockouts with psyche guitar solos. This will appeal to many. Bravo! Picks: 2, 9, 11, 1. PGM: Almost all songs end around :02.

Hi! Glad you liked the CD! Thanks so much for taking the time to listen to our weird music :) One quibble though: bass was played by Brandon Ross, and Vonorn does the drums and guitars (along with Andrew Kowal on some guitars). But thanks for reviewing and listening. Wish we lived closer to California :(

Oh how embarrassing. Thanks for correcting me, and it's an honor to hear from you. If you ever are out here, we'd love to have you do a live mic at the station!
Please forgive my errors, and keep creating awesome music!

Hey no problem. I'm just glad you reviewed it. If we are ever in California, I'll let you know. I may be in CA next year on vacation but I'm not sure yet. Or if you know of any good festivals that would have the budget to get an East Coast band over to play let me know. Thanks again!
