Cultural Amnesia – “Press My Hungry Button” – [VOD] Records]
ophelia necro 8/6/2008 A Library
Cultural Amnesia were around from 1980-1983 and released three cassette-only?? albums and appeared on a number of collections.?? The band had connections with Geoff Rushton, a.k.a. John Balance (Coil) who apparently wrote 3 of the songs (Hot in the House, Scars For E, and Spoilt Children) on this release . Cultural Amnesia often recorded as they created and?? as a result produced tracks ranging from improvisations?? to carefully constructed multi-part pieces exhibiting a mostly British postpunk/electropop flavor. The lyrics are clever and at times ironic and humorous, at others serious and passionate.?? When the band stopped in ’83 they had been working on what was to be their first vinyl LP, a significant number of tracks on this release were intended for that album, 25 years later they are presented here.
