Higgins, Patrick – “Bachanlia” – [Telegraph Harp]

Cousin Mary   1/1/2016   A Library, CD

Yet another take on the works of Johann Sebastian Bach – originally composed for a variety of instruments, here played on guitar. Most tracks are true to the melody, also true to Bach’s demand that a solo musician play multiple voices. Often Higgins plays it straight, gorgeous classical guitar – but there is some electronic processing, for example on the recapitulation of the Goldberg Aria. VERY nice.
