Bolivar, Pablo – “Simulated Physics ” – [Regular Label]

Also recording as Paper, Pablo Bolivar delivers a sci-fi dance-floor
pumpatronic number on the title cut. Deep rubbery bass lines, thickened
with a hint of growl, keep the shafts driving, while a gossamer psuedo
theremin line beams above every for four out of every sixteen measures,
and then sometimes it vanishes for quite a bit. While its gone, we get
persussion sounding like hypermetal clink ricochets that are injected
into spaces, along with a flies buzz and some static starfish strafing.
Keeps enough sonic balls up in the air, while the legs never let up.

On the flip side, “Excited” is a lot more squiggly, more Detroit over
the Columbian marching orders… A couple of times, Bolivar lets the
beats stack up and stagger a bit. A little over half-way through he
irons out all the squiggles and kinks, could have let just the rhythm
ride a little longer there, but he brings back the simple melody,
pitch shifts it down and up and then back on and on. This one doesn’t
have as many holes in it for breathing, so if you like the more
airtight action, you’ll work this till the muffler falls off your
speakers. Check the damp out and whale wave-form wobble at the very
end…

For me, the equation on “Simulated Physics” hit my harmonic freak.
