Tsembla – “Terror & Healing” – [New Images]

Naysayer   2/4/2015   12-inch, A Library

Tsembla, oh Tsembla how I love you so. Just beautiful electronic dabblings that sound like being pushed through water magnified.
But not just water. Trees. Plants. Nature. Acoustic percussion instruments. Some guitar and bass. Samples. So many samples coming at you that it’s hard to keep a focus, because if you are like me, I tend to try and figure out the music. Stop it! Don’t do that. Let go and just listen. Especially with headphones. The world of Tsembla will overwhelm you. Oh, and did I mention it is rhythmic?
Marja Johansson is Tsembla. She is part of the Kemiallset Yst??v??t project, which has primitive leanings, though very contemporary. And with a beat. Johansson takes her project a bit farther and further out of that realm where pieces feel like they might loose control. Someone called it, “Nature mixed with electronic debris”. That sounds right. It also makes you feel good in this strange way. Listen closely and feel good in a strange way.
