Album Review
Actress – “Ghettoville” – [Ninja Tune]
abacus 10/8/2014 A Library, CD
after deconstructing his various musical obsessions over the past decade, Darren Cunningham delves deep, creeping out of the most dour ghetto-techs of Chicago and Detroit. smoky haze of industrial decay and inner-city deterioration shuffling from the streets to the club and back out to the streets of twiight as the album progresses. can’t wash that grime away no matter how hard he tries, soot stained ears and sweat filled eyes from dragging along hot asphalt, cryptic premonitions of Don’t Stop the Music as the robots return to the streets. but the machines have turned to stone, data reads like an obituary to its user.
