Spot-on raw-throat in-your-face UK punk that isn’t
30+ years old (I bet the band members weren’t even
alive then…). Speaking of the band, here are their
self-styled instruments and stage names…
Throat: KY Ellie
Buzz Saw: BB Thing
Deep Trouble: Ash Tray
Bone Throne: L-Hard
They had me at KY Ellie, and she’ll have you and
not let go with her irate screaming is both pitch-free
and pitch-perfect. Strident and striking, her voice is
basically another piece of percussion…with a heaping
helping of attitude. The drummer doesn’t need a lick of
help…he’s just whacking the crack out of the drums at
all times. Good ragged guitar work, leaves your ears
ringing like you just left a live show. And the bass is
that scrapey, flat, plunk-punk-plunk. It’s all as
refreshing as a slap in the face. Although perhaps
not for the all the “Crab Walking” “Pale Grey Suits”
(that latter track has a very different vibe than
most of the other blood/fist pumping numbers here)
that cross Ellie’s path o’ wrath. Out on the White
Denim label run by a Pissed Jeans genie!
