Kayros, Dalila – “Nuhk” – [dEN Records]

Thurston Hunger   6/6/2014   A Library, CD

Fans of weird, beautiful, fearsome, creative women, behold
a new goddess. Husky chanting, grunting, multi-track
scream scatting, trilling her tongue and singing her soul
out, Dalila makes the microscopic hairs in your ears stand
at attenzione. Bubbling electronics, and industrial rhythms
boil in the musical caldrons, but her bewitching voice is
what has this listener walking through the fire. There’s a
pretty harshness in the sound, chaotic noise barely kept at
bay adds to that effect… Some piano will help segue/summon
Diamanda but Dalila has her own dark lustre. Antonio
Zitarelli helps here, I see him as an audio Renfield, to
Dalila’s enchanting vampire queen. Dig the blood opera
of “Arxia” (is it an Aria with an X rating?), “Hacab”
first hypnotized me, I remain smitten. I am a Kayro-maniac
please join me…down these moss-covered steps into
the catacombs of this Sardinia Circe. She will come
for you eventually, why wait? Killer!
