Chrome – “Half Machine From The Sun” – [King of Spades]

May we take this minute to pray to the Unholy Gods of Music for delivering this gem to KFJC. Unreleased vintage Chrome album comes from the depths of a time when Chrome was recording “Half Machine Lip Moves” and “Red Exposure,” in 1979 and ’80, respectively. Helios Creed and Damon Edge had recorded way more than they needed and used only a handful of the tracks for those two albums. The two dudes didn’t realize the tapes were lost (actually , been sold cause of an unpaid bill of sorts) and recently heard some of the recording again. Bought back the rights to the songs with help from fans, and released here via King of Spades Records.

Fuzzed out ’80s SF kraut-punkers at their best. Effects weave their way in subtly, hypnotic drums, and the vocals sound pedophilic. Sometimes cozy, often uncomfortable. Killer fucking samples, long tracks short tracks. Looks over the border of pop music, whilst staying truly avante-garde. Stoner space-rock tracks.

Literally for any show, plus, you’ve gotten this far already, take out the orange vinyl and revel in the sounds of fresh nostalgia. Aaah…
