Potent punk that hurtles out of the speakers.
Slicing, strafing guitar, toppling drums
and up front, distinctive, disdainful female
vox. Her name is “Jen Throw Up” aided and
bayoneted by plenty of bile. Maybe a little
reminscent of “The Dog-Faced Hermans” in her
song-shriek. A voice chillingly high, like
wind blowing through a condemned building.
At times she’s joined by “the man in the
yellow hat” for some spoken sneering. Some
fitful fiddle and clashingly soothing flute
help articulate the anger. Songs are not
anthemic, riff riding straight shots, but
more the result of precariously stacked
notes and chords. Vancouver vigilance.
