Ignivomous – “Contragenesis” – [Nuclear War Now! Product]
abacus 9/17/2013 12-inch, A Library
Birthed out of the decrepit fires of Australia, this towering ziggurat of soul-molesting death metal will maul you under its unflinching wrath. Ignivomous (literally means vomiting fire) know how to truly penetrate the pungent corpse that is death metal and seed unholy life, feeding it ravenous hunger. Violently infuriating intensity packed into every track, with anarchic dual guitar interplay leaving the manic drummer foaming at the mouth. While they do dabble in the melodic sweeps and pinch harmonics that plague most metal of this variety, this is unquestionably heavier, bogged down by the overwhelming burden of its rage. The vocalist need only pummel on bass and incessantly hurl hoarse roars to get you scowling just like him. Destructive in every sense of the idea; between the unpredictable tempo changes and devastating force of a firestorm, you might find your fist in a wall or your head cracked and bleeding. Don’t hurt yourself.
