Feldman,Mark/Courvoisier,Sylve – “Music for Violin and Piano ” – [Avant]
Thurston Hunger 5/29/2006 A Library, CD
Should I ever be wrongfully accused of murder,
and be sentenced to death. I’ll forego my last
meal & listen to this with a bottle of Amaretto.
Feldman is a virtuouso and his wife clearly
understands his fits, dark moods which can
switch to playful exhilliration in an instant.
Their musical marriage is rich, from the jaunty
to the haunted…from Nashville to gnashville.
Some moments where you think, hang on how’s he
or she making that sound. But mostly it’s
just remarkable playing. Track 2’s suite may
cause hyperventillation. Feldman’s flights up
and down the the fingerboard make me weep.
Play this for your friends who feel there’s been
no music since Mozart/Bach and wait for their
epiphany and apology. Pure power. -Thurston Hunger
