Bren’t Lewiis Ensemble – “Rapture Piles” – [BUFMS]

humana   8/12/2013   A Library, CD

This is completely weird, and thus completely fitting for our airwaves. Voices speaking, chanting, reciting over each other, not a traditional instrument to be found. Rather, salad spinners and other found objects (never call them junk) create the rhythms and backdrops for the voices. Is it prayer, invocation, recitation? Whatever, dip in and discover the offerings here. It’s a live recording from a concert at the Hemlock in San Francisco in October 2012.
