Blackbird Blackbird – “Boracay Planet EP” – [Lavish Habits]

humana   3/19/2013   12-inch, A Library

Side A is gentle, upbeat pop rock with tambourine, guitars, and nice vocals. Side B is more of the same. Some field sounds on A2 and B2. This is a lot like something you’d hear on a Pop Ambient release in that it has electronics and is highly soothing and pleasant. The accessibility of this might sicken some, but for those (like me) who sometimes thrive on a little laidback mellowness, this is just the ticket. Maybe you could call it beachgaze.
Sides C and D are Distal and Grenier remixes of several of the songs on A and B. They are more revved up and perhaps better for dancing, but I prefer the originals. D1 has nice pulses, though.
