Carter,Tom /Robert Horton – “Lunar Eclipse ” – [Important Records]

Max Level   2/1/2006   A Library, CD

Organic, densely-layered dronescapes. Carter plays guitar and lap steel with various preparations and an e-bow, then can’t resist adding some psyche-fuzz lead guitar on top. Sound wizard Horton checks in with computer, homemade instruments (the boot, the sex machine, and the electric barometer) and assorted whatnot (vibrator, slinky, field recordings, electric toothbrush, etc). Really the only things I can identify are a few guitar sounds; everything else melts into a moaning, jingling, humming, creaking background thrum, bringing to mind other organic-layered-drone projects like Coelacanth and Thuja. Some sections of this CD are more percussion-heavy than others, and toward the end things get a bit noisier.
