Supersilent – “5 ” – [Rune Grammafon]
Thurston Hunger 1/3/2006 A Library, CD
Recall the remarkable 1-2-3 CD intro to these
not-jazz, not electronic, but more than both
freaks. Line-up has shuffled, and sonic plan is
more planned it seems…slow rolling avalanches.
While the “4” is not with us, we do have this
latest installment. Creepy sweeping percussion,
hollow cathedral organs…tight trumpet blasts…
more subdued than the initial tri-blast. Silence
more important to improv here. This is the music
you hear during the Star Trek beaming-down when
you are neither here nor there. They can go with
Jon Hassel/ElectroMiles or bamboo flute. Advanced
primitive sounds. Music to shapeshift by…drone
elements, but they are laid like traps to ensnare
you. Norway or the highway. -Thjurston Hjunger
