Dracula Spacecraft / Endometrium Cuntplow [coll] – [Love Torture Records]

Thurston Hunger   11/11/2012   A Library, CD

Press the button on the two-word band name generator
and let’s see what comes out. Voila, first Dracula
Spacecraft (aka Luis Fernando Hernandez-Loera) jump cuts
a little awkardly immediately into the battlescene from
a sci-fi movie, with some serious polterglissando. He
likes to get a wash of sounds rollicking, and then thin
them out at the end. Kind of clean for the mad scientist
laboratory, “Cavitation” feels like he’s providing a score
for John Carpenter (with a faint echo of “Dream Weaver?”)
Rarely is a bandname so well suited to the noisy synthscapes
as Dracula Spacecraft (if “Lifeforce” remake is ever made
Loera should be on the shortlist of composers). Next
out of the two-word machine : Endometrium Cuntplow.
David Lucien Matheke takes a failed name for an IUD
and turns it into an auditory IED. Much more harrowing
sounds here. “Nulled Savior” takes a scream loop and
amps it up into a full circuit/speaker meltdown. It
feels like that scream loop gets doctored and pitch
shifted on the next two tracks, it does a sort of
moebius headtrip at the outset of “Gravity and Moisture”
before dropping into a deep hum drone that rolls for
most of the track until nearly 8 minutes are gone, when
it sounds like the flaming walls of the studio collapse.
“Untitled” track 4 serves a cross-collaboration for
the two projects.
