Sult – “Bark” – [Bug Incision]

mickeyslim   8/22/2012   CD, Jazz

Sult is a four-piece improv group from Oslo and San Francisco, consisting of the four core members of Mirror Trio, Tony Dryer (doublebass) Havard Skaset (guitar) Jacob Heule (percussion) and Guro S. Moe (doublebass). Started working together in January 2008 touring throughout the U.S. and Europe, they only just now released this, their first album.

Claim that “their sound reflects great patience, deep listening, and complete trust in one another,” which must be true because it seems like they’re in deep meditation with one another, exploring and probing each other’s brains.??Cornucopias of scratch sounds, pops, plunks, string sounds and driving wonks from the basses. Yips and yelps from the guitar, subtle percussion, twisted meditations for schizophrenic monks.
