Moss Icon – “Moss Icon” – [Temporary Residence Ltd.]

Damn, this is the COMPLETE discography from one of the frontrunners of hardcore emo punk, Moss Icon. Moss Icon formed in Annapolis, MD in 1986 while the group was still in high school. Singer Jonathan Vance, guitarist Tonie Joy, bassist Monica DiGialleonardo, and drummer Mark Laurence remained ??relatively ??unknown during their reign, seeing as they would be on musical hiatus more often than not… but Tonie Joy was always active in music, and is represented in our library with Universal Order of Armageddon, the Convocation Of…, Born Against and Great Unraveling. Luckily, however, they gathered a cult following after their breakup in 1991, so they reunited for two shows in 2001 and again in 2007 working on new material, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

AWesome fucking LYriCS! ??I’m listening to this album again and again just to find new lines I like. Vance knows exactly how to yell those words, and the delivery reminds me of a poetry slam, but with killer punk music in the background. Fuzzy distorted guitar, stoney at times, but always head bang worthy. Heady, driving punk with emotive lyrics. Lyrics are printed on the sleeves, but don’t always include ALL of ‘em.

Favorites: “rejoice in the spirit of mine by Lucifer’s wholly mended wing,”

“while young girls ushered playful ghosts by the creek, signing they would follow golden fish into the marsh’s reeds”

“the snow is beginning to fall many particled and infinite”
