Prisma – “Cosmic Coil, The” – [Time-Lag Records]

Inside this artistically packaged CD we are told that Prisma is Janane and Rachel, and that the recording occurred in Montville, Maine. The nature of the music is folk that is simply set with guitar strumming, drone, some bells, an occasional recorder or flute, and youthful voices that intone lyrics or hums with a sweetness that is sometimes sad (1, 5) and other times more joy-filled (4). 6 begins with a dark, Dr. Who-like fade-in, and 8 is a lovely a cappella that summons tribal images of intentional movement around a campfire. 2 is also quite pretty.
