Ergo – “If Not Inertia” – [Cuneiform Records]

Electro-acoustic trio Ergo is joined by Mary Halverson or Sebastian Kruger on guitar on some tracks for dreamy improvisational minimal jazz. The trio shows fine efforts throughout, but I especially liked Brett Sroka’s trombone on track 3 and whistling on track 4. Sam Harris’ prepared piano on track 1, and Shawn Baltazor’s drums on track 2. Original, pleasant, and accessible, plus there’s a 5-minute video about Ergo and this recording session on the CD.
