Fourth World Magazine – “Presents The Spectacle of Light Abduction” – [Pacific City Sound Visions]

The story behind The Spectle of Light Festival is pretty kooky. Apparently a stadium full of people gather, and “clear their minds” to focus while there’s a bunch of lights flashing. They start to see images, hopefully good, some bad (aliens (cover photo), meaning you’re not at peace with yourself or something I suppose). Sounds like what all of San Francisco was doing in the 60s, but this takes place in Mormon heaven – Salt Lake City, Utah. It actually sounds pretty spiritual and hippie, and if this music is what was played, it might be kind of a fun trip. Maybe I’d envision a half-cat, half unicorn-pegasus that quacks. Anyway, the music is mellow, electronic for the most part, with a little bit of an organic feel. It was recorded in 2011, but at times you feel like Close Encounters is playing in the next room, while people jam on tablas. Nice, ambient and relaxing.
