Landry, Dickie – “Fifteen Saxophones” – [Unseen Worlds]This work of art was originally released in 1977, and it includes pieces that are best described as materialist minimalism (read the record sleeve). Think glace de viande, which reduces meat juices to create a thick meat glaze. Landry, who was a longtime associate of Philip Glass, records his saxophone or flute and layers it in delays and overdubs to etch out an essence of musical landscape that is luxuriant in its simplicity.
