Dakota Suite – “Hearts of Empty, The” – [Karaoke Kalk]

David Buxton is the star of this 10th release from Dakota Suite. Not only does he write and arrange the songs, but he plays the piano, double-bass, and percussion as well. David Darling’s cello joins him on 1, 2, 3, and 5. One song, called “Underpowered” (9) indicates the theme of the album–the music is may be understated, yet it is anything but powerless. The tranquilizing effect of these predominantly jazz-infused melodies is not to be underestimated. Subtle, effective, and entrancing. Let these mellow outings put you under their spell.
