Satanstornade “s/t” [Warp Records]

Electro experimentalist, Russell Haswell, and Merzbow’s seminal avant garde noise minimalist, Masami Akita, join forces for this clamorous cacophony of lacerating feedback. Drawing on his previous collaborations and tours with dark ambient techno artists Autechre and Aphex Twin, Haswell astounds as he and Akita utilize their exhaustively extreme pandemonium to the utmost. Satanstornade’s meshing of intelligent electronic structures and hissing layered commotion saturate the cerebrum, without elevating your inner anxiety level. That’s not to say this record’s suggested ‘headphone listening at maximum volume? wouldn’t stunningly impair your auditory senses; because it would! Nevertheless, Satanstornade’s tempo-less tingling tirades and scintillating synaptic stimulus are wickedly infectious. Try track #1 first to test the waters. Plunge head first into tracks 2, 3, and 4 once you’ve got the itch.
