Rossetto, Vanessa – “Mineral Orange” – [Music Appreciation Records]

Field recordings, more or less, but layered in really interesting ways. Sonically, the tracks stay in a sort of medium range; things never get overly noisy or overly quiet, except for a couple of places where a track sounds like it’s over but it really isn’t. A few of the sounds I detected: rumbling things, birds, vehicle noises, voices, liquids trickling. Surprisingly musical, and ideal for listening with headphones. Track A2 ends with a short piano interlude, and B2 has a section of violin somewhere in the middle. On Ms. Rossetto’s own label, and limited to 300 copies.
