Dramady – “Little Getter” – [Self Released]Rainy Day Pop, perhaps? It’s gray outside and threatening to rain as I listen, and this CD seems right at home. Dramady probably can’t help it; the band (a duo) hails from Portland OR. Amanda and Zacary handle just about everything (vocals, bass, drums, horns, keys) themselves via overdubs, and there are a few guests pitching in. I’d file this CD in the Pop music drawer because the songs tend to be fun, full of hooks, and have an average length of about 3 minutes; but the big crunchy drums and husky bass lines keep insisting this one belongs in the Rock drawer. Then there’s that final track: a spaced-out nine minute mix of throbbing music and spoken word stuff about particles and the beauty of love. So it’s Rainy Day Pop/Love/Rock, I guess, and I can dig it. Comment on this review |
