Amirkhanian, Charles & Creshevsky, Noah – “Auxesis” – [Centaur Records]

Charles Amirkhanian (born in Fresno, California) is a composer known for his electroacoustic and text-sound music. He was Music Director of KPFA from 1969 to 1992. “Politics As Usual” includes field recordings, segments from a Synclavier and samples from Lou Harrison’s gongs and other Indonesian instruments. 25:49 of extremely cool and interesting sound collage!

Noah Creshevsky was born in New York state, studied at the Eastman School and Juilliard with such teachers as Virgil Thomson and Luciano Berio. In his 3 tracks, he uses fragments of vocal music, various samples and instruments such as harpsichord and violin. Somehow he reassembles fragments into a cohesive whole that is delightful.

Highest recommendation!!
