If Terry Riley and Nico went to Australia? Nah… but not that far off.
Actually Nisa Venerosa has more of a Marion Coutts (Dog Faced Hermans)
sort of style on vocals. Brittle and strident but rising above it all.
Maybe as she’s drumming away, it keeps her more in a marching mode.
But above all this duo sure loves their musical mantras, and push well
past the hypnotize zone on most tracks before giving way to some of
those vocals. Maybe it is me, but I almost want Venerosa to cut loose
with some frantic fills, her drumming was usually so well locked I
thought maybe it was a drum machine melding with Jarrod Zlatic’s
exceptional electronic knobbery. Sometimes he ghosts along with
Venerosa’s vocals. Tribal music for a tribe of two?
