Daniel, Ted Quintet – “Tapestry” – [Porter Records]Recorded in 1974 at Ornette Coleman’s Artist House, free jazz meets fusion that manages to be exciting and calming at the same time. Great Fender Rhodes guitar (with a Leslie(!) speaker) from Richard Daniel, standout vibes from Khan Jamal, fine flugelhorn and trumpet from Ted Daniel, solid drum solos from Jerome Cooper, bass with an original sound from Tim Ingles. Might make jazz fans of the psych crowd. Joyous, exuberant, listenable. Comment on this review |
