Yehudit - “In The Zone” - [Edgetone Records]

Yehudit (pronounced “yeah who DEET”) is a Bay Area violinist who left her position with the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra in 2007 to work full-time in jazz with her electric and acoustic violins.

This release features very fine playing from all — I especially liked Steve Erquiaga on guitar and Gerry Grosz on vibes (tracks 2 and 5). Yehudit???s violin has an original, virtuoso sound but does not dominate in this set.. A wide range of styles includes straight-ahead and Latin, all accessible.
