This is not the first Secret Eye artist Gira has set his sights upon and with good reason??? they discover major talent particularly in the psych / experimental / freak folk realms. That is precisely what Larkin Grimm accomplishes here with some additional assistance from Fire on Fire, Arrington de Dionyso, & Michael Gira. She engages with country washboard fervor, sailing haunted vocals, munchkin quails & bird whistles, subtle acoustic beauty & unusual yet beautiful tunes with odd mouth sounds & murky mystery. Larking Grimm culls a Renaissance repertoire that is astonishingly artistic & structured perfectly to please as well as puzzle. Absolutely entrancing!
